Tired of letting your utility decide your electric bill?

Has your bill been climbing no matter how careful you are? Most Pittsburghers feel like they have no control over what they pay each month, and the rate only seems to move one direction. Year after year you pay more for the same power, and nobody at the utility is calling to ask if that is okay with you.

Here is the other problem. Most solar companies push one option, the one that benefits them, not you. We built VirginSolar to fix that. An advisor, not a salesman: honest guidance, fair pricing, and the options that actually fit your home.

With a PPA you host solar panels on your roof instead of buying them. We design, install, own and maintain the system, and you simply buy the clean power it makes at a rate lower than your utility charges. No purchase, no loan, and you switch to clean energy with nothing out of pocket.

Yes. On our most popular PPA there is no purchase price and no loan to start, $0 out of pocket. You pay only for the electricity the system produces, typically starting around $60 a month. If you would rather own the system outright, we also offer a one-time purchase and low-interest financing.

That is the goal from day one. PPA power usually runs about 12 to 17 cents per kWh, compared with roughly 24 cents on Duquesne Light, 18 on Penn Power and 16 on West Penn today. You are going to pay for electricity either way, so you might as well pay less, to a system working for you instead of the utility.

An escalator is a clause that raises your per-kWh rate a set amount each year, often 1 to 3 percent. We offer 0% escalator options so your rate can stay flat while utility rates keep climbing. We always show you the exact terms up front, with no fine-print surprises.

The 30% residential tax credit for homeowners who buy their system outright expired at the end of 2025. On a PPA the system is owned by us, not you, so eligible incentives are captured at the system level and factored into your low rate. If you choose to own, we will walk you through what is currently available. Always confirm the specifics with a tax professional.

On a PPA we own the system, so monitoring, maintenance and repairs are on us for the life of the agreement, not you. If anything ever underperforms, fixing it is our job, not another bill for you.

Standard grid-tied solar shuts off in an outage for safety. Pair your system with a home battery, such as a Tesla Powerwall or FranklinWH, and your essential circuits keep running when the grid goes down. We size backup around what matters most in your home.

Net metering lets your meter effectively run backward when your panels make more power than you use, banking credits with the utility that offset what you draw at night. It is one of the biggest reasons rooftop solar pays off across Western Pennsylvania.

Quality panels like the QCells we install are built to produce for 25 years or more, backed by performance warranties. They have no moving parts and are engineered for Pennsylvania weather, including hail and heavy snow.
